Loved this commentary, Marc! I remember thinking I didn’t have many regrets in my life. Then I gave this more thought and what pretty horrified to revisit my past sins. As paraphrased from the Bible, “Before you comment on the splinter in your neighbor’s eye, remove the log from your own…”
Hi,
Via an email from FlyLady…I came…great commentary that we would all do well to consider.
Technically speaking-and I am a geek.

Sorry, just don’t get the humor. Although I am not a “boomer”, so maybe I’m too young to get it? I’ve seen several of the videos, but just don’t enjoy them. Good luck though…
Always get a chuckle along with a good dose of common sense from your mini-rants. ‘News’ should be news, not ‘human interest’ stuff,
especially when, though it’s human, it isn’t interesting.
Save the smut for the smut-mongers whom we can choose not to read or listen to.
Have to go, I can hear bones rattling in the background ;>)
Happy All Hallows,
Talk about self-righteous and smug….that’s the trouble with criticizing people for being self-righteous and smug: you can’t do it without engaging in it. A better question is whether it is legitimate to publicly uphold standards that one does not meet. I say it is. I uphold many standards of generosity, diligence, honesty, prudence, justice, faithfulness, and love of neighbor that I unhappily fail to meet, to mention only a few. To allow only the pure to champion standards is to morally beggar the culture. I do not reject your thesis that calling a diet of gossip news is a bad thing. I deny your argument that it is bad because almost everybody commits gossip-fodder acts. I believe it is bad because gossip, in fact, allows people to feel better about their skeletons, and weakens their resolve to improve — after all, almost everybody does it. And please, do a little research on Kinsey before you use his name in any respectable context.
What a great message! I agree, I am tired of hearing people call others out on their mistakes while they themselves are doing the same things or worse.
I’ve been saying this for years! Well done for coming out and saying it publicly – I couldn’t agree more!
PS I only recently came to your site via FlyLady.net and have to say, it’s fantastic viewing. Thank you for being entertaining AND common-sensical – a rare thing in this day and age!
Yes, yes and more yes!! Freakin’ awesome – couldn’t agree more! I have this habit of letting my skeletons run free, hoping to encourage others present to ‘fess up too … On good days, they do; on others, they continue to pretend … agh!!! Life would be so much more pleasant if we all that bit more hosest about who we are and what we’ve done. Let’s tell each other about the abortions we’ve had, the times we’ve yelled at our children, the moments we wanted to leave our spouses – wouldn’t we all feel so much less alone??

AMEN! Although it could get a bit bulky, that closet certainly would keep the judge in all of us in check.

Oh, I got ‘em. Many of the same ones Marc has. Great point. Who doesn’t have skeletons and why can’t we all be more accepting of each other.

Great idea, Marc! I’ve always believed in the sayings about not casting stones.
I must admit I’m glad you’re starting with the journalists and politicians. By the time I have to bring my closet out, it will seem pretty tame.
