Marc: Not all "acheivements" are explosive and magnificent from a generation. Boomers have accomplished many, many, many things including paving the way for the next generation that took technology to the next level that keep guys like Brokow on the air. Yeah, your all gonna be broke but that is because the governments have not protected Social Security or informed you of the crappy job they did do. If anything your situations have taught explosive and magnificent lessons that we can follow and improve on. If it was not for the Boomers testing the limits all of us Moms would be living in June Cleavers world with better aprons. How is that achievement? Thanks to you and ALL generations that made each decade a little more advanced than the last. When my kids are older I am sure someone out there will declare us a failure and think Boomers were the greatest generation!
Consider donating the helmet in your father's name to a museum. Many museums will allow you to leave the item with them as "On Loan" but you still maintain ownership. This item can be of value to educate people of the past by the museum rather than gathering dust.

I was born in 1945 and lived on the West Coast in the San Francisco Bay Area. Not only were we taught to 'duck and cover', we also had to wear "dog tags" just like the Marines, in case they couldn't identify our bodies after the nuclear attack! No wonder we hit the '60's and tried to live in the moment. We never thought that we would live another day!
And here the Romans thought they were the greatest generation – hmmmm……..they can't hold a candle to us !!! I loved this segment – I think you should send it to Tom !!!
